Any steps we take toward sustainable living can have a big impact. We’re proud to use environmentally-friendly practices, products and services at our communities, including the following:
- Choosing environmentally-friendly cleaning supplies
- Installing high-performance, water saving fixtures, including low-flow shower heads, toilets and faucets
- Selecting compact fluorescent light bulbs and LED lights*
- Utilizing low-VOC paints, carpets and adhesives
- Choosing paper, envelopes and paper towels with a high percentage of post-consumer recycled content; by choosing this option, we saved the equivalent of over 100 trees.
- Recycling paper, cardboard, cans, plastics and glass used in our offices, community rooms and laundry rooms whenever possible
- Partnering with residents to reduce, reuse, and recycle whenever possible to reduce waste going to landfills
- Finding ways, through our Weidner Paperwork Reduction Taskforce, to reduce the paper used in our leases and addendums by up to 60%, including the introduction of electronic lease-signing
- Launching an online portal for residents to make payments, request maintenance service, and access bulletin boards for their communities
- Converting to Energy Star appliances*
- Reducing dependency on HVAC refrigerant through tracking and recycling
